Real name: Joakim Norman
1. Tell us a little about yourself :
My name is Joakim Norman. I studied at Hyper Island prior to being employed as an Art Director at Lowe Brindfors Advertising.
2. What are the most challenging and rewarding aspects of working as a creative?
What drives me the most is the challenge to create ideas that strike a chord with both the client and the consumer. The clients more than often have a very systematic approach to advertising, that can sometimes be difficult to translate into easily understood and sell-able communication, and lets be honest, the end consumer has little or no interest in what the brand has to say! With that in mind it makes the challenge that much more rewarding when you manage to create something that actually generates a reaction.
3. Describe the creative process, do you have a working model that you follow?
It’s all about communication, talking through the problem, researching and finding interesting angles that lead to unique solutions. Once that is done there is great emphasis on the production phase, a great idea requires careful and thorough execution, otherwise it can all be in vain!
4. How has today’s technology helped you in your work?
Today’s technology is a prerequisite for me.
5. What are your plans for the future?
To get established in my field and to continue to learn and grow. Really, really quickly!
6. Can you describe your ”dream client” or ”dream case”.
Some time ago, when travelling on the subway I saw an ad for anti-snore spray. I would like to work with something like that, something with an unusual purpose; a weird product is always more fun to work with. If I was given that chance then my dream brand would be Mackmyra, a whiskey from Gotland.
7. How did you come into contact with Mypitch?
Word travels, especially via the internet.
8. What are your thoughts about Mypitch – The good and the bad?
Mainly good. I think it’s a good idea and shows promise. I do however think that there are too few missions on offer and that could dampen peoples interest. It can also be a negative thing to think that advertising is only about the idea. To create an idea in an intelligent and good looking way is very important and without the ”production” element this can be a concern.
9. Any tips for other creatives who are thinking of joining and taking part in pitches from Mypitch.com?
Not much else to say other than do it! Read though and practice, everyone has the potential to be best, it’s just about dedicating time to doing it.
Joakim, thank you so much for your inspirational answers and we wish you the best of luck in our future creative missions here on Mypitch.com!
